BERNADETTE DORAN, BS, RMT Director

For more than 25 years, Bernadette Doran has been a global catalyst for change, growth and personal and organizational success. A dynamic leader, award-winning writer, and inspiring educator, Bernadette offers a rare combination of expertise in helping organizations and individuals achieve self-perpetuating vitality through leading-edge mind-body medicine.

From her undergraduate days as a biology major, Bernadette has pursued a passionate study of bioenergetic principles and therapies. She received her Bachelor of Science degree at Loyola University, Chicago, and pursued postgraduate work at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL.

Bernadette is a Reiki Master Teacher in the traditional Usui System of Natural Healing (lineage of Phyllis Furumoto) as well as Karuna Reiki (lineage of William Lee Rand), and has practiced and taught Reiki throughout the United States and Australia for more than a decade. She was a member of the faculty of the California Naturopathic College in Del Mar for two years.

She studied hypnotherapy at Boston Hospital, and trained with Brent Baum, developer of Holographic Memory Resolution® (HMR), to become a Level Two HMR practitioner. Bernadette studied with Serge Kahili King, Ph.D., for certification as a Hawaiian huna energy healer, and with Roslyn Bruyere, Deepak Chopra, Joan Borysenko, Elmer Green, and Candace Pert, among others.

Bernadette is registered with the International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP), is an active member of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) and the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine (ISSSEEM), and is on the ISSSEEM Energy Medicine Task Force. She lectures extensively on a variety of subjects, from stress management to energy medicine.

Before focusing on her bioenergy practice, Bernadette was a senior vice-president with three global corporations, working in Chicago, New York, and Melbourne, Australia. She gained an international reputation for ground-breaking leadership techniques and won dozens of awards for business effectiveness and creativity.

She is also an award-winning author and has published extensively in local and national publications. Some of her pieces have been included in anthologies, including a U.S. Federal Government resource directory on Viet Nam veterans, a children’s reading program, and Australia: True Stories of Life Down Under. In addition to being the director of EQUILIBRIUM Energy + Education, Bernadette is also the president of Industrial Strength Soul, Inc., which offers on-site employee workshops, executive seminars, and training in conscious leadership.

JANE ALBRIGHT

Gifted from birth, Jane Albright discovered that her ability to see human energy fields increased dramatically in her efforts to connect with her younger brother who died very unexpectedly. Soon afterward, Jane took formal training to enhance and expand her natural talents and work professionally as an energy reader and healer. Jane is also a Level Two Reiki practitioner.

Our energy field holds virtually limitless information about us, including patterns and choices we have made and are making. By reading and working with your energy field, Jane brings to light issues that you are facing, helping you to gain deeper understanding and new awareness. The process allows you to move through limiting issues, break up patterns that no longer serve you, release old energy, and create profound healing for both spirit and body.

CINDY CLICK, RMT

Cindy Click has devoted more than 15 years to the study and practice of Eastern and Western spiritual teachings. Born and raised in northern Minnesota, Cindy has an ancestral lineage with the Native American Mohawk and Iroquois tribes, which has enriched her life in knowing and understanding Earth-honoring traditions. She discovered her interest in spirituality developing at an early age and inherited a great respect for nature-based spiritual traditions from her family, who taught her how to understand and develop a relationship in honoring the connection between Nature and Spirit.

Cindy's spiritual quest first led her to an ashram in India, where she studied Eastern spiritual philosophy, yoga and meditation. In her further studies, Cindy completed a two-year apprenticeship program devoted to the study of South American shamanic traditions, and studied Hawaiian shamanic healing techniques as well. She studied with David Elliot (author of The Reluctant Healer) to certify as a breath work and energy healer and trainer. She is a Reiki Master Teacher in the traditional Usui System of Natural Healing (lineage of Phyllis Furumoto).

Cindy is also the owner and founder of Aware Toys, Inc., a company devoted to the creation of Earth-honoring toys such as "Ki, The Earth Peace Toy."

A Chicago resident for more than 10 years, Cindy services and classes include Reiki, breath work, drumming circles, trance dances, guided meditations, and earth-honoring ceremonies.

SUZANNE FRAKER, BS, RM

A longtime resident of the South Loop with an interest in landmarks preservation, Suzanne Fraker is delighted to be working in the historic Dearborn Station which she watched being restored.

Suzanne holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan. She has always been fascinated with color and light and has done much study in these areas. She is certified by the International Mandel Institute, Switzerland, as an Esogetic Colorpuncture Practitioner, and is certified by the Aura-Soma International Academy of Colour Therapuetics, England, as an Aura-Soma Practitioner. She has also studied with the Tama-Do Academy of Sound, Color and Movement, and is a Level One Practitioner.

Suzanne is certified by the Tama-Do (Way of the Soul) Academy of Sound, Color and Movement in Malibu, CA, as a Level One practitioner. She is also a crystal healer trained by Melody and certified by the Association of Melody Crystal Healers, Inc.

In addition, Suzanne is a Reiki Master and holds a diploma in therapeutic massage from the Chicago School of Massage Therapy. She has studied energy healing with Roslyn Bruyere and Barbara Brennan.

Suzanne has been President of the Women’s Health Executives Network, a Board Member of the Illinois Women’s Political Caucus, and is profiled in the recently published book, The Courage Code.

BEVERLY MELAND, BA, RMT

A dynamic force in alternative healing as well as arts and architecture, Beverly Meland is a Reiki Master Teacher in the traditional Usui System of Natural Healing (lineage of Phyllis Furumoto) who has made significant cultural contributions through leadership positions with a variety of Chicago area associations. She received her Bachelor of Arts in humanities from Wayne State University and studied marketing at Northwestern University, Evanston.

Beverly has been Executive Director of the Newhouse Architecture Foundation, General Manager (and continuing Board Member) of the Evanston Symphony Orchestra, Membership Director of the Chicago Architecture Foundation, and Membership Director of the American Institute of Architects (Chicago Chapter).

Beverly received a Special Appreciation Award from the Chicago Public Schools for introducing inner-city students to careers in architecture through special workshops, special curricula, and citywide architecture competitions, all under her management and leadership. She also received a Marketing of the Year Award from the Illinois Council of Orchestras for membership expansion efforts for the Evanston Symphony Orchestra.

Beverly's special interest with alternative healing is the effect of Reiki on diseases in the elderly. She is currently conducting a study approved by Northwestern University on the subject and is a dedicated Reiki volunteer at senior centers in Evanston, IL.

MICKEY PARENT, BA, RMT

A true citizen of the world, Mickey Parent has created a rich and varied international life since her birth in the Midwest. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern Illinois University with a focus on Global Policy for Human Rights and Human Dignity.

During extensive travels in Europe and the Middle East, Mickey worked in Switzerland, Greece and Israel, then settled in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, for three years, where she was employed by a scientific publishing company. She has continued traveling throughout Asia and the South Pacific spending time in Japan, China, the Philippines, Fiji and Vanuatu.

As a volunteer for Amnesty International for over 13 years, Mickey acted as the conduit between staff and volunteers on both the national and international level, and became a member of the team which established their nationwide volunteer training program. She has been a member of Kokyo Taiko, a Japanese drumming group, for more than 10 years, and is expanding her practitioner experience in vibrational healing and sound therapy.

Mickey received the Intercultural Foundations Certificate from the Institute for Intercultural Communication, and attended the Institute of Global Ethics. She is a member of the Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research (SIETAR). She has delivered workshops on intercultural communication and values-based decision-making.

Mickey is a Reiki Master Teacher in the traditional Usui System of Natural Healing (lineage of Phyllis Furumoto) and is a member of the International Association of Reiki Practitioners. She volunteered as a Reiki member of the Sports Recovery Team for the Gay Games VI, Chicago, 2006, and published an article on her experiences in Reiki Magazine International, February/March 2007. In addition to her healing and teaching practice, Mickey has given lectures about Reiki in such venues as Galter LifeCenter and The Hallmark, A Brookdale Community.

BETTY SITBON, BFA

Betty Sitbon has a passion for life, and it is evident in every painting that she creates. Born in Michigan City, Indiana, Betty has always been inspired by color and is best known for her murals and French Impressionist style that developed while she lived in Paris for more than eight years. “To observe her many works is to observe a dance, or to travel to Paris for a moment in time,” said Myiti Sengstacke, founding editor of Uptown Magazine.

In addition to her studies in Paris, Betty attended Interlochen Arts Academy in Traverse City, Michigan, and the Art Institute of Chicago, and she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Since 1975, Betty has been working in Chicago as an independent muralist/painter, art teacher, and art therapist.  Her corporate client roster includes such notable organizations as Nextel, Sprint, Chicago Bears, Ronald McDonald Charities, Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants, Lincoln Park Zoo and Motorola to name just a few. She has received endorsements from corporate leaders throughout the U.S. as well as Jacques Chirac, the president of the Republic of France.

Betty specializes in visual journaling personal counseling and classes. As an art therapist, Betty uses gentle, intuitive guidance to help clients and students embrace the freedom of self-expression, tap into the rich inner truths of the subconscious, and unlock deep healing for the heart, mind and soul.
