MASSAGE
AND
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPIES
Because Equilibrium is dedicated to energy-based therapies, our massage and craniosacral therapists are energy workers as well as trained specialists in these two therapies.
At Equilibrium, you enjoy the double benefits of energy work as well as traditional massage and craniosacral therapy in every treatment
Massage Therapy
$100 for 60 min., $145 for 90 min.
Therapeutic massage offers a drug-free, noninvasive and humanistic approach that stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Massage is the manipulation of the soft tissue of whole body areas to bring about generalized improvements in health, such as relaxation or improved sleep, or specific physical benefits, such as relief of muscular aches and pains.
Practitioners use a variety of physical methods, including applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, or causing movement to the body. Therapeutic massage:
- Increases circulation, allowing the body to pump more oxygen and nutrients into tissue and vital organs. Increased circulation of blood and lymph systems also improves the conditioning of the body’s largest organ, the skin.
- Releases endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller, and is used for chronic illness, injury, and recovery from surgery to control and relieve pain.
- Stimulates the flow of lymph, the body’s natural defense system against toxic invaders. For example, in breast cancer patients, massage has been shown to increase the cells that fight cancer.
- Improves range of motion and decreases discomfort for patients with low-back pain and other similar pains in the body.
- Increases joint flexibility.
- Relaxes and softens injured and overused muscles.
- Assists with shorter labor for expectant mothers, as well as less need for medication, less depression and anxiety, and shorter hospital stays.
- Reduces postsurgery adhesions and edema(swelling) and can be used to reduce and realign scar tissue after healing has occurred.

Craniosacral Therapy
$100 for 60 min., $145 for 90 min.
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system, comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Using a very gentle touch, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, optimizing a movement pattern within the body known as the "cranial wave." The Navajos call the cranial wave “wind's child,” a holy messenger wind that enters the body, while other traditions call this life-sustaining energy prana, chi, spirit or bioelectric energy.
Craniosacral therapy is used to treat a range of problems, including migraine headaches, chronic neck and back pain, autism, spinal chord injuries, learning disabilities, chronic fatigue, stress, and emotional issues.
